Russian Hackers Stole 1.2 Billion Internet User Passwords

A security firm of U.S. uncovered the biggest hack in the entire history of internet, while investigating that a Russian Hacker Group stole the 1.2 billion user passwords. A Milwaukee-based security firm which conducted an 18-month investigation to find about the breach finally published a frightening but still unclear report about the biggest hack that the recent memory can recall. It says that 1.2 billion username and password combinations have been hacked, along with 542 million email addresses by an online Russian gang. Apparently the data base is discovered by the researchers of the Hold Security. But along with Hold, New York Times and NYT also brought in their own security experts to test the authenticity of the report. The report says that around 420,000 websites security has been breached by the Russian Hackers, and the number is ranging from Fortune 500 companies to the very small websites of the world. Hold hasn’t disclosed the information yet that what websites are affected by the breach because of the disclosure agreement and a reluctance to name any of the website who remains vulnerable. In fact some news have been spotted that the firm is now charging the companies $120 to tell them whether their website has been breached or not. According to the reports the gang is consist of more than a dozen 20s men and they know each other personally. The servers have been traced in a small city in south Central Russia, the region flanked by Kazakhstan and Mongolia. The report of Hold states that the computers were infected with a malware which made them the part of Botnet (A system where computers with viruses can be controlled by a single operator), and when the user try to visit a site, hackers command the Botnet to test the vulnerability of the site through a well-known hacking technique known as SQL injection. The real number that of the hacked username and password combination is 4.5 billion, while 1.2 billion figure and 542 million emails are the number of the unique visitors who has been the victim of the biggest online security breach ever.
