Pakistan exports over 90% of its IT services

During a recent meeting of Board of Directors of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) with Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom, it has been announced that IT exports of Pakistan have increased by 35% during the current fiscal year with the forecast to reach $500 million till the end of June 2015. IT industry of Pakistan report However, according to the Chief Executive officer of Netsol Mr. Saleem Ghauri, the figure of $500 is actually documented. In actual, most of the export-oriented IT companies of Pakistan are not registered with State Bank of Pakistan and bring their money through remittances and thus are not reflected in the overall exports revenue. While talking to MORE, Mr. Ghauri said that: Pakistan,s IT sector generates more than $2 billion revenue from the exports and around 90% of the services of IT industry of the country are being exported throughout the world. There are over 2000 IT services companies working in the country which employ nearly 100,000 people and pay them higher salaries as compared to any other industry of Pakistan and thus total IT industry worths over $5 billion. Mr. Ghauri believes that Pakistan will be securing $10 billion worth of IT exports in next five years because of the fact that Pakistan,s new generation is amazingly smart and is taking keen interest in joining this field.
