The biometric verification of mobile SIMs is quite a popular topic since the government of Pakistan has made it a compulsion but the matter of SIM verification of overseas Pakistanis which are over 10 million in numbers, gained the consideration of the government after the end of first deadline. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has recently issued a guideline for the re-verification process of overseas Pakistanis according to which the SIMs on international roaming will be “Temporarily Verified” by following a simple procedure of respective cellular operator until 31st March 2016 after which the user will be required to visit Pakistan physically for permanent verification by going through BVS. overseas Before following the procedures which are published by the telecom operators regarding the re-verification of SIMs on international roaming, make sure to check the number of SIMs issued against your CNIC by visiting www.cnic.sims.pk or SMS your CNIC number at 668. SIMs ON INTERNATIONAL ROAMING: Warid: In case the count of Warid numbers exceeds the actual Warid numbers currently in your usage, download this form, print it and send a scanned copy of it to overseas668@waridtel.com to discontinue them. For temporary verification of your Warid SIM, either you will receive a message from 789, asking you to reply with your Mother’s name, CNIC number and Place of birth. Otherwise type: VERMotherName,CNIC,PlaceOfBirth and send it to 789 If the provided information will be correct according to the record of NADRA, your SIM will be temporarily verified and a success message will be forwarded to you but in case of incorrect information, you will be notified accordingly. Mobilink: If you are a Mobilink user and using the international roaming facility, you are required to dial the USSD string *149# for verification of SIM. After this, you will be asked to provide CNIC and answer of two secret questions i.e. Mother’s Name and Place of Birth Upon validation of details from NADRA, your number will be marked as temporarily verified till 31st March, 2016. However, this process is currently unavailable for Mobilink Customers currently on roaming in Afghanistan. If the count of Mobilink SIMs against your NICOP/CNIC is found in excess of the actual SIMs in usage, download this form, print it and send a scanned copy of it to reverification@mobilink.net.pk to discontinue them, along with scanned (colored) copies of NICOP/CNIC (both sides) and Passport (Colored scanned Visa page ) Ufone: The procedure for verification of international roaming SIM of Ufone is similar to that of Warid and the users are required to dial *789# from Ufone SIM and follow the instructions asking to enter CNIC number and other personal information after which your SIM will be tagged as ‘Temporarily Verified’ This service is free of cost and is applicable for SIMs on international roaming in all countries except Afghanistan. The extra SIMs issued against your CNIC will be deactivated after the deadline of 12 April, 2015. Telenor: Telenor subscribers on international roaming are required to download this form, fill it and email scanned filled form at telenoroverseas668@telenor.com.pk along with scanned copy of NICOP/CNIC (both sides), valid visa and passport In case of successful verification, mentioned numbers in filled form will be temporarily verified till 31st March 2016 and extra SIM(s) registered against your NICOP/CNIC shall be removed within 24 hours of the receipt of your request. Zong: If you are an overseas Pakistani and want to verify your Zong number(s) against your CNIC then email your request at customercare@zong.com.pk along with following information: 1. Scanned Image of Original Valid Visa or Passport (validating stay abroad) 2. Scanned Images of Original NICOP/CNIC (both sides) 3. Your Zong numbers and their ICCIDs (ICCID is the serial numbers on the back of SIM card) 4. Mothers Maiden Name 5. Place of Birth After successful verification of provided documents and information, your SIM would be temporarily verified while the extra numbers will be discarded. SIMs PRESENT IN PAKISTAN: Those SIMs which are present in Pakistan and their owners residing/visiting abroad can be reverified by changing ownership to the names of family members and, for this reason, one additional proof of relationship with the owner will be required to present to mobile companies for reference. SIMs NEITHER IN PAKISTAN NOR ON INTERNATIONAL ROAMING: If the SIM is neither in Pakistan nor on international roaming, it will be blocked by the end of deadline of 12 April 2015, if not verified by due date and will be unblocked as soon as the subscriber will carry out verification through BVS. However, cellular operators will be obliged to ensure that those SIM will not be issued to any other subscriber for a period of one year from the date of blocking, as said by PTA. It is important to note that the deadline for temporary verification of SIMs for overseas customers is also 12th April 2015, just like the customers residing in Pakistan.
