Great Info...!!! XML = eXtensible Markup Language HTML = Hyper Text Markup Language PHP = PHP Hypertext Processor (a recursive acronym). XML is the grand daddy of all markup languages, all markup languages are made from XML and different programs have rules on what to do when approaching different tags. XML is really handy as you can create new tags specifically for whatever your creating - e.g. in MathML (the Maths Markup Language) you could define to display 3.147 HTML is the markup language that is used mainly for websites to make them look pretty. It has pre-defined rules of what to display in the case of each tag, which many browsers know about these rules, however these rules can also be re-wrote using CSS (cascade styling sheets). PHP - This is a scripting language that a server can use, most of the time it's used to generate various effects on web pages, and to interact with SQL (Structured Query Language) databases, however it doesn't have to run on a web page, and can be used to make command prompt programs similar to C++ or Pascal, but unlike C++ or Pascal PHP is never compiled so can't run as a stand alone program, but because it's never compiled and it's open source, the script can be run on any computer that has a PHP processor available for it, so a script wrote for a Windows PC can also run on a Apple Mac, Commodore Amiga, Atari ST, Linux PC, Unix, Silicon Graphics, etc.
