What is a General Banking Officer – MMBL?

A General Banking Officer is responsible for delivering efficient customer service and managing a wide range of branch-level banking operations. The role includes handling account opening processes, addressing customer queries, conducting non-financial transactions, and supporting administrative and operational functions. The officer also manages fixed assets inventory, security stationery, customer complaints, and ensures compliance with standard banking policies and procedures.

What does a General Banking Officer – MMBL do?

• Ensure efficient handling of walk-in customers and deliver services in line with defined service quality standards.
• Work across all operational segments of the branch as an inputter/maker level employee. Manage complete account opening processes for Core and JazzCash customers, including dormancy activation/removal, stop payments, account closures, SOA issuance, loan account management, deceased marking, level migration, and participation in Gold Loan assessments.
• Prepare and maintain deceased customer case refunds and related documentation. Handle customer queries professionally and monitor assigned service indicators for continuous improvement.
• Perform all types of non-financial transactions with accuracy as per SOPs. Guide customers effectively and cross-sell relevant bank products. Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports for submission to CSM and Head Office.
• Physically verify all fixed assets annually and reconcile them with the fixed assets register. Act as custodian of all security stationery and maintain accurate balancing. Support branch administrative functions in coordination with CSM/BM. Manage customer complaints and ensure resolution within TAT.
• Maintain all operational registers and records up to date. Review all Sundry and Suspense accounts for timely reconciliation. Perform daily scanning and uploading of SS cards. Process clearing instruments and return marking, manage cheque book issuance/destruction, TDR issuance, BC issuance, and balancing procedures.
• Act as custodian of received cheque books/ATM cards and ensure proper delivery as per SOP. Serve as backup teller when needed. Ensure cash sorting accuracy as per SBP Clean Notes Policy. Process cash deposits/withdrawals, detect counterfeit notes, and accurately handle outward clearing instruments.
• Ensure smooth cash transfers between tills and vault at Start and End of Day. Perform FT, TT, and clearing entries accurately. Balance physical cash with system (T24) at day end. Maintain Cash Balancing Register, Teller Daily Cash Record, Vault Position, SBP Sheets, and other cash-related reports. Serve as custodian of assigned keys and stamps.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by Line Manager.

What are we looking for? – Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in branch banking or operations.
