Job Overview

Octans Digital Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a motivated and skilled Java Software Developer to join its growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development using modern Java frameworks and a passion for building scalable, high-performance applications.

Key Responsibilities

Development

• Develop and maintain server-side features using Java 11+ and Spring Boot

• Design and implement RESTful APIs, database integrations, and background/async processes

• Write clean, scalable, and testable code following best practices and coding standards

• Assist in debugging, performance optimization, and code refactoring

Design Participation

• Support senior developers in preparing Low-Level Designs (LLD), API specifications, and database schemas

• Contribute ideas to enhance system performance, reliability, and maintainability

• Follow established architectural principles and microservices patterns

Collaboration & Delivery

• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and UI teams to ensure timely sprint delivery

• Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and estimation meetings

• Manage assigned tasks using Jira and take ownership of allocated modules

Code Quality & Testing

• Follow coding conventions, logging standards, and exception-handling guidelines

• Write unit tests and assist with integration testing

• Participate in peer code reviews and continuously improve through feedback

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent

• 2–3 years of hands-on experience in backend development

• Strong understanding of Core Java, OOP concepts, Collections, and basic Concurrency

• Practical experience with:

  • Spring Boot

  • JPA / Hibernate

  • REST API development

  • PostgreSQL / MySQL

  • Version control systems (Git)

  • CI/CD tools (GitLab CI / Jenkins)

• Familiarity with caching, messaging systems, and containerization is a plus

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to Microservices Architecture

• Basic understanding of messaging systems (Kafka / RabbitMQ)

• Hands-on experience with Docker and unit testing frameworks

• Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
