Job Purpose

The Senior Technical Sales Officer – Field Crops is responsible for driving sales growth, demand generation, and channel effectiveness within the assigned territory. The role focuses on achieving budgeted targets, strengthening market presence, managing field teams, and building strong relationships with growers, channel partners, and key stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned sales budget with monthly phasing.

  • Achieve month-on-month forecast accuracy of 80% or above.

  • Drive demand generation activities including Field Meetings (FM), Field Days (FD), and Product Demonstrations to ensure inventory liquidation.

  • Lead and execute demand generation initiatives to support sustainable revenue growth.

  • Manage, train, and coach Field Officers through action planning, on-the-job coaching, and regular follow-ups.

  • Oversee channel management including target setting, monthly business review meetings, channel engagement, motivation, and onboarding of new partners in vacant BSAs.

  • Monitor and report on market trends, competitive activities, and regional outlook.

  • Develop and launch New Product Introductions (NPI) through demonstrations and strong product showcasing to growers, channel partners, and Arhties (middlemen).

  • Execute company campaigns and sales policies effectively in the field.

  • Allocate resources efficiently, including field officer deployment and channel establishment.

  • Drive geographical expansion through enhanced field presence and channel development.

  • Manage stakeholder relationships including EIs, Arhties, sub-dealers, value chain partners, and institutions.

  • Track and monitor channel inventory, liquidation, and Planogram of Growth (POG).

  • Handle and resolve customer complaints within the assigned territory.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key regional influencers such as lead growers, market yard vendors, value chain partners, and government or institutional representatives.

  • Ensure timely product placement and collections to achieve targeted Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).

  • Collaborate closely with the sales team to ensure disciplined execution of business plans.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, preferably in Plant Breeding or Horticulture.

  • 3–4 years of relevant experience in technical sales or field crops.

  • MBA (Agriculture) will be considered an added advantage.
