Project Engineer – Syngenta Pakistan

About the Role
Syngenta is seeking a Project Engineer to drive innovation and lead complex engineering capital projects (CapEx) across our Karachi site. You will be part of a dynamic team shaping the future of sustainable agriculture through cutting-edge facility designs, equipment installations, and full lifecycle ownership of large-scale engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Management

• Lead the CapEx process from planning to project completion and capitalization.

• Deliver projects within agreed timelines, budgets, and company governance frameworks.

• Provide data-driven insights for investment and equipment replacement decisions.

• Define project scope, develop detailed designs, and ensure compliance with local regulations and company standards.

• Serve as the main contact for regional and functional teams for all project-related activities.

• Monitor project progress using earned value management techniques.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)

• Champion a zero-incident safety culture across the engineering department and plant.

• Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.

• Lead by example, promoting safe work practices among all team members.

Project Execution & Coordination

• Develop comprehensive project scope, design, execution, and communication strategies.

• Drive risk management and mitigation efforts while managing stakeholders’ expectations.

• Plan, track, and execute multiple projects simultaneously within time, cost, and quality constraints.

• Organize and manage FAT activities, ensuring readiness, quality, and compliance.

• Collaborate with other engineering teams (Maintenance & Utilities) to ensure project compliance.

• Manage contractors on-site, monitor daily tasks, KPIs, and documentation.

• Support commissioning and production teams with equipment, recipe creation, and handover.

• Initiate purchase requisitions (PRs) and supervise execution phases to optimize schedules.

• Maintain project manuals, drawings, and ensure continuous cost efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering.

• Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in construction, MEP, and machinery-related capital projects in process industries (Agrochemical, Pharma, Chemical preferred).

• Proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects in manufacturing environments.

• Knowledge of PMI methodology; PMP certification preferred.

• Proficient in SAP Ariba, Smartsheet, Power BI, AutoCAD, and MS Office.

• Basic understanding of engineering economics and finance.

• Strong HSE awareness in chemical/process plant environments.
