Job Summary

The Division Manager – Quality Assurance will lead, develop, and oversee all quality management and food safety activities across METRO Pakistan. This role ensures compliance with METRO Global QA standards, local regulations, and international certifications such as FSSC 22000 and Halal. The position drives continuous improvement, manages the QA team, and promotes a culture of quality and safety across all operations—from stores to warehouses to suppliers.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define, implement, and continuously enhance the Quality Management System (QMS) in Pakistan.

  • Develop QA strategies aligned with global standards, local regulations, and business objectives.

  • Lead the QA division to ensure risk-based compliance, operational excellence, and high customer satisfaction.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for global QA coordination and audits.

  • Support other QA-related initiatives as needed based on business or global requirements.

Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee QA activities in stores, warehouses, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with FSSC 22000, Halal, HACCP, and local food safety laws.

  • Define product specifications and requirement profiles for Own Brand, sensitive assortments, and imports.

  • Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and ensure timely corrective actions.

  • Maintain updated QA documentation, operational manuals, and SOPs.

  • Manage QA support for new store openings, product launches, and process changes.

Supplier & Product Quality Management

  • Supervise supplier QA programs, inspections, and approvals, focusing on Own Brand and fresh/ultra-fresh suppliers.

  • Implement product monitoring, testing, and compliance reporting systems.

  • Handle complaints, non-conformances, product withdrawals, and recalls with operations and supply chain teams.

  • Evaluate supplier performance and monitor corrective or preventive actions.

  • Collaborate with authorities, institutions, and service providers to enhance supplier quality.

  • Train and transfer QA knowledge across the organization to ensure continuous capability development.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepare QA reports, dashboards, and KPIs for senior management.

  • Analyze quality trends and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure alignment with global QA metrics and governance standards.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MS in Quality/Food Safety, or equivalent) is preferred.

Experience

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance, Food Safety, or Quality Management within retail, FMCG, food manufacturing, or supply chain sectors.
