Mr. Amir Hayat Hiraj, son of Mehar Umar Hayat Hiraj, was born on January 2, 1982. He completed his American High School education at the American School, Lahore, and went on to pursue his Bachelor’s studies at both Government College University (GCU) Lahore and Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan. Mr. Hiraj began his professional career in the banking sector, serving as a Relationship Manager at ABN AMRO Bank during 2006–2007. Entering politics, he was first elected as a Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) of the Punjab in 2008, where he served as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Food until 2013. Re-elected in 2013, he held the office of Parliamentary Secretary for Mines and Minerals from 2013 to 2018, and also served as Chairman of the Punjab Food Authority. An agriculturist by profession, Mr. Hiraj secured his third term in the Punjab Assembly in the general elections of 2024. His international exposure includes participation in delegations to the United States (Agriculture), United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, UAE, Turkey, Nepal, Oman, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Azerbaijan, and China (as part of a CPEC delegation), as well as the Philippines for an agriculture-focused visit. Mr. Hiraj belongs to a politically active family. His uncle, Haji Khizar Hayat Hiraj, was a Member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from 1997 to 1999 and served as an Advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab from 2014 to 2018. Currently, Mr. Amir Hayat Hiraj is a member of the Standing Committees on Punjab Emergency Services, Livestock & Dairy Development, and Human Rights & Minorities.
