Women is Passing Through Worst Stage of their Life in India

R a p e in India has been described by Radha Kumar as one of India’s most common crimes against women and by the UN’s human-rights chief as a “national problem”. Marital r a p e is not a criminal offence in India. In India, matters cannot be worse. ‘R a p e Capital of the World’ as it has turned out to be, displaying endemic barbarity that may not be contained by any law or legislation. The problem India faces is beyond just ‘R a p e’; herein according to the Indian National Crime Records Bureau, one woman is r a p e d every 20 minutes in India and more so where police estimates are that only 4 out of 10 r a p e s are reported, largely due to victims’ fear of being shamed by their families and communities – the cancer lies in the interpretation of the word and concept of ‘woman’ itself.
