Bullet train services connecting Tokyo and western Japanese cities were suspended Friday after a building near a train station caught fire.
The fire broke out in the early hours of Friday in a building near JR Yurakucho Station and spread to three other buildings nearby, according to East Japan Railway Co. and Central Japan Railway Co.
No casualties have been reported so far. More than 50 fire engines have been deployed around the scene to contain the fire.
The incident occurred at a time when people were expected to travel to or from Tokyo after the New Year celebration.
