FIA Releases Security Guideline for Facebook Users

FIA Releases Security Guideline for Facebook Users
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) nowadays seems active to curb the illicit elements on cyberspace that is why the Agency has released a detailed guideline for Facebook users focusing largely on how to stay secure on the social networking site. The report is published under the office of Project Director National Response Center for Cyber Crimes (NR3C). Ironically, the report has nothing new to offer but a compilation of those pre-defined Facebook tools and techniques which help users to stay safe on the cyberspace. However the report contains something informative which includes some of the hacking terms and techniques used by hackers that people might not be aware of. So we appreciate this step taken by FIA. The content is written in English and there are four core sections in the guideline. In introduction, they are telling users the importance of keeping themselves aware of the basic knowledge of the internet. Then there is second part under the heading: HOW TO SECURE PROFILE ON FACEBOOK: In this part, users are being guided that how should they protect their password. In this regard, FIA puts several possibilities used by attackers and ask users to stay at safe side by following simple directions. This sub-section largely covers the threat of password stealing through human intelligence including Shoulder Surfing, Social Engineering, and Brute Force Attack and informs how can you be secured following simple steps. Then there are tips for building up a secure password and different dimensions of security settings. PRIVACY SETTING AND TOOLS: Then there is part describing how you can secure your timeline and control who is seeing your posted stuff. Blocking, Tagging, Untagging and Reporting people and recovery of hacked account and so on are included in the section. After this, there is a part which guides the users how to report the offenders or unwanted ads, pages and people on your timeline. Though many of us have already known the dynamics of Facebook security tools but still it is a good initiative by the FIA to compile all the settings in front of the public and making them aware of future dangers.
