Ikea introduces furniture to charge smartphones wirelessly

We usually hear about technological innovations every now and then out of which most of them are meant to ease the standards of living and making them more convenient. ikea You might have heard about the wireless charging technology which charges the smartphone by placing it on a device with proper alignment but now the Mobile World Congress 2015 that is taking place in Barcelona has revealed a latest innovation through which the smartphones will be charged wirelessly by merely placing them to the surface of your furniture. IKEA, the furniture giant has announced the launch of such furniture including desks, tables and lamps that will wirelessly charge phones and other devices. The company is said to be using Qi wireless technology in order to charge devices that are placed on or even near the furniture and this collection will hit the stores in April 2015. Therefore, the users will no longer be required to endure the mess of charger or socket to charge their devices though, the furniture itself will require a power source to ensure the energy transfer to your smartphone or tablet. Interesting! isn’t it? However, only those gadgets will be compatible with this furniture which support Qi charging system. It is said that there are around 80 smartphones so far that support Qi which is the most used wireless charging technology presently. However, as soon as the trend of wireless charging will become ubiquitous among the masses, more and more electronics manufacturing companies will be introducing wireless charging compatible devices once in a while.
