Punjab Police launches emergency SMS alert service for schools

Authorities in Punjab have decided to commence an emergency SMS alert service for all the educational institutes of the province amid increasing terror threats.SMS alert service Now the educational institutes can send a message by dialing *55# code to alert the respective authorities about any potential threat. This service has been initiated upon the directives of IG Punjab. DIG Operations Dr. Haider Ashraf has said that police so far has launched this service only for educational schools. This service can prove to be helpful in controlling any unpleasant situation therefore the authorities have set up this useful service which is absolutely free of charge. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Police also decided to launch a mobile application that would be designed to notify the police about any potential emergency situation in schools of the province. This will be an Android based application and Android smartphones will be handed over to the respective officials. Citizens or officials, having Android smartphones can alert a nearby police station or checkpost by just one click using the app. Schools all over the Pakistan are the soft targets for the terrorists and its high time the authorities should pay special attention to this matter to make sure the safety of school going children.
