School students to get solar panels under 3rd Phase of Ujala Program

The government of Punjab has decided to distribute free solar panels to 1 lac students under the third phase of Chief Minister Ujala Program for the year 2015. students Free solar panels will be awarded to the students of different government schools. This time, interestingly, the merit specified for the eligibility is relative lesser than past phases and now the students securing 60% or above marks will be getting free solar panels. During the phase one of Ujala Program, around 2 lac 10 thousand solar panels were distributed among students, however, 88 thousand students in phase two succeed to receive them. The government of Punjab seems fully dedicated to avail the support of solar panels to eliminate the electricity crisis from the province and for this reason, it is also preparing to provide free solar lamps to the general public. Therefore, the Chairman of Planning and Development Department Punjab, Mr. Muhammad Irfan Elahi has asked to prepare different packages for the distribution of solar lamps among the masses in order to to fulfill the electricity needs. In addition to this, many of the street lights of the provincial capital has been shifted to solar panels already and while, CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has also ordered recently to install the solar panels at water filtration plants to save electricity.
