Govt contracts with Chinese firm to provide scooties to women in 2016

After distributing laptops, green cabs, solar lamps among the masses, it has been decided to provide scooties to female students and employees of the Punjab government, but on easy installments. The project will take the leap from Lahore on trial basis, followed by other cities of Punjab. scooties It is important to note that the government started working on this project last year in March 2014 and established a committee to work over the project and just recently the committee arranged a meeting regarding the proceedings of the project in Lahore. It has been briefed that the Bank of Punjab will provide easy loans for this project and additionally, the government will pay the interest money of loan to make the process easier for women. During the presidency of Minister of Women Development Punjab along with members of the provincial assembly, officials of the Bank of Punjab and finance transport departments, it has been decided that funds will be allocated for this project from the development budget of next year i.e 2016. Moreover, before handing over the scooties, the girls and women will be provided with the training by the government. While a special task has been given to UET and the transport department to design the scooties keeping in mind the convenience for women. The contract to manufacture special scooties for women has been given to a Chinese company which will provide 50 CC scooties for the price of Rs. 80,000 each.
