Waziradad A linking Railway Junction

Around 100 Kilometer north of Lahore, on Grand Trunk road famous as GT road located a city of Waziradad. There are other cities located on GT Road which also links to Waziradad. Such as the Waziradad 45 km away from Sialkot city, 30 Km away from Gujranwala and 12 km away from City of Gujarat. One can easily travel through busses to reach Waziradad from all of the mentioned cities. It is an old city, settled in 1542 CE and it is named after Wazir Hakim Illmuddin. There is only a single international NGO working in Waziradad that is Muslim Hands International, which is putting its effort to upgrade the educational and community standards of Waziradad. Wazirabad’s prominent features are its old buildings built by Wazir Hakim in 1645 A.D. Waziradad is also famous for the Gurdwara of the sixth of the Sikhs’ Guru named Guru Har Gobind, the gurdwara is called “Guru Da Kotha”. Many Sikh followers visit Wazirabad’s Gurdwara and celebrate their religious festival. Another place which is now declared as historical site is the Post office founded in 1542 A.D. Waziradad City is located on the banks of the River Chenab. At Waziradad, Palku Nala stream from melted snow of Himalayas also join the Chenab River. It is an industrial city and its total population is around 95,000. It is headquarter of Tehsil Waziradad and the city is divided into five sub divisions. On the north western railway line of Pakistan, Waziradad is considered as an important railway junction. Indeed it is one of the largest junctions, as it links Jammu, Sialkot and Faisalabad to main railway line from Peshawar city to Karachi. Fine quality cutlery such as military knives, hunting knives, daggers, swords, axes are the trade mark of Waziradad and are renowned internationally. Waziradad also has a considerable trade in cloth, timber, grain and sugar.
