Are telecom towers dangerous for health

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on the directions of Chairman PTA, Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, has just recently conducted a survey with the help of Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) in the major cities of Pakistan.towers The purpose of the survey was to examine the omission of power level from the transmitters and receivers of Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) which are installed by mobile companies. The survey was conducted in 7 cities of Pakistan including Lahore, Karachi, Muzaffarabad, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) by using special tools and equipments. The results unveiled that power level of radio waves of all BTSs under observation was significantly below the prescribed danger limits and is according to the policy directives and guidelines of World Health Organization (WHO), Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoITT) and International Commission on Non- Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). According to PTA, the authority has conducted 4 such surveys in the country within past 6 years in order to remove the misconception among the people regarding the telecom towers installed by the telecom operators while ensuring that the towers are working within the specified parameters set by PTA and international organizations. PTA has also stated that it is very much careful concerning the issue related to the health of the common citizens and will continuously monitor the operations to ensure set standards.
