When is 3G & 4G coming to your city

Now that Government of Pakistan has successfully auctioned licenses for 3G & 4G, everyone is wondering that when they will be formally receiving signals on his/her phone. Now that depends on various factors like When Telecom companies fully acquire the licenses for 3G &4G by paying at least 50% of their bidding price in 30 days from auction date 3G enabled and 4G enabled phones SIM of networks who actually offer 3G (Warid users can switch) Last but not the least, from which city they belong Luckily, there’ll be no need of buying new SIMs as these faster technologies will be available on the current SIMs. Now the timeline when 3G & 4G technology must hit your city is already set by PTA in information memorandum for spectrum auction. Telenor is already beaming free 3G internet on trial basis in cities like Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad & Rawalpindi 3G technology in your City If you are living in any of the provincial capital i.e. Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta or Federal capital (Islamabad) then telecom companies are obliged to roll out 3G services to you in matter of 9 months. Now we already know that Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad has witnessed 3G during test run from telecom companies so these 3 cities might get an early launch. In second phase, 18 months from date of acquiring licenses, telecom companies will roll out 3G services in 10 more cities and these must include 2 cities in each province. So cities like Faisalabad, Multan and Rawalpindi from Punjab and cities like Hyderabad and Sukkur from Sindh can be having 3G in matter of 1 and half year from now. Telecom companies will decide according to their business market that in which cities of KP and Balochistan they would want to launch 3G technology. In third phase, 4 years from getting license, telecom companies would be providing 3G technologies to 3 out 4 Distract Headquarters which means that all the major District Headquarters in each province would be enjoying 3G technology. By year 2020, 6 years from auction of licenses, even the smallest cities (Tehsil Headquarters) would be enjoying next generation of mobile communication. 4G in your city Although, for now there is small amount of 4G smartphones available and only Zong has even acquired license for the technology, but still according to timeline set by PTA, Zong is obliged to roll out 4G technology in matter of 1 year in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta. In matter of 3 years, 4G will be available in 10 cities and at least one of them will be in each province. This means at least Multan, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi can get 4G in matter of 3 years, Hyderabad will also be potential contender for the technology. In 5 years’ time, half of the district headquarters and in 7 years’ time, 25% of tehsil headquarters will be using 4G technology.
