HEC to give free EVO to each student under PM Laptop program

Pakistan Telecommunication Limited (PTCL) is one of the biggest internet providers in Pakistan, Recently they joined hands with Higher Education Commission (HEC) to free EVO device to proficient students under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Program. HEC would purchase a total of 100,000 devices and make the payment against the device cost to PTCL as per agreement. The packages will designated to talented students at special monthly rates. Recently in the budget, HEC allocated a healthy amount of budget and the decision took place to give wireless internet services to bright students on pure merit after it. Anwar Amjad, Director General IT and Basharat Qureshi, Executive Vice President Corporate Sales PTCL signed the agreement. Waleed Arshad, CEO and President PTCL and Prof Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman HEC was also present at the occasion. The ceremony was held in HEC secretariat on Friday. EVO devices will be delivered to HEC in batches in three months, also they will be given to the designated universities by the PTCL. PTCL would have the right to block any connection if found to be resold or to be purchasable in open market. The device shall be activated within 72 hours from the time of request to be sent by the student at Costumer Service Centers. The service shall be activated to the default package, but after one month the device may be continued with default package or would be shifted to any EVO package with 20% discount. The package also entitled the guidelines for students to inform them about the activation/reactivation procedure, terms and list of service centers across the country and in Azad Kashmir.
