LTC revises free transportation facility for elderly & disabled

Lahore Transportation Company (LTC) has started to re-issue special cards for the senior citizens and the disabled ones so that they can avail free transportation facility on all routes of LTC buses. This facility was first started in 2011 but the age limit defined for the eligibility of the senior citizens was 65 years or above. However, according to an official of LTC, with the re-introduction of facility recently, the age limit has been revised with 5 year relaxation. LTC Eligibility Criteria: The citizens of the age 60 years or above, having a computerized National Identity Card will be eligible to enjoy free transportation facility in all routes of LTC buses. While the disabled persons having disability certificate along with B-form or disability labeled National Identity card will be eligible to apply. The fee for applying for Free transport Card is Rs. 100 while the applicants will be required to visit the office of Lahore Transportation Company once, located at 4th Floor, IEP Building, Liberty Roundabout Gulberg III, Lahore, with two copies of the CNIC card/B-form and disability certificate. While any of the family members can collect the card within few days from the same office. Apart from that, LTC has also re-announced Green Card Scheme for the students of Lahore which aims to provide economical traveling facilities to them. Thus an online portal has also been introduced on the website of Lahore Transport Company (LTC) through which colleges and universities students will be able to register for Green Cards to travel in all the buses of (LTC) by paying fare of Rs.10 per trip. Moreover, an e-ticketing system has also been inaugurated recently by LTC to facilitate passengers and transporters.
