Zong imposes charges on utilising free minutes

Zong has imposed charges even on the free calls offered by the company which are being given as part of any offer. Therefore, the customers of Zong will not be able to avail any free minutes with effect from 13th February, 2015, as the company will be charging an amount of Rs. 0.10 excluding the taxes on utilising the free minutes on any package or offer.free minutes Zong has displayed this message on its official website and justified the call setup charges on free minutes by saying that it is necessary to maintain the quality of their services. These call set-up charges will be applicable to all of the bundles/packages or campaigns offering free minutes including Flutter Bundle, Hello Bundle Re-connection Campaign and Re-verification offer. By the way, the free minutes on calls given by the company will not be free anymore form 13th Feb as there will be charges on setting up the call, nonetheless the charges are low but cannot be claimed as ‘FREE’ as per the latest guidelines of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Apart from this, Zong has also imposed 19.5% General Sales Tax (GST) last week on using data services without activating any package in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (KPK) and claimed these are the orders of KPK Government, however, other cellular subscribers are not charging GST on mobile data services in KPK presently.
